Footprints

Place your foot on a body of wet st to three and take it away. What do you see?

Now, step on dry sand (beach-like sand).

Compare what you see.

Wet or dry your foot leaves its print on whichever body of sand it touches. That's the same way you leave prints (residues of you) in people you meet in life.

A lot of us fail to realise that everything counts when we have dealings with our neighbours (everyone we come across). The day's greeting, the compliment, the simple but usually neglected sorry and thank you, every word we say matters.

Many fail to grasp the importance of spoken words and actions and as such fail to leave a good print (positive impression) in people we meet in our daily endeavours to hustle, and thus by theirselves close the the doors to future dealings.

Take this analogy:

One day a man set out to attend the job interview his old friend who he got in touch with after a long time helped him secure in the firm where he worked. After the duration of thirty minutes for the oral interview, he was given the usual 'we will get back to you' response. He was visibly agitated, angry, and in despair. Understandably, this was his thirteenth interview this month, all within a forth-night, but none with a reply more encouraging than the other. He left the premise without seeking his friend for a briefing on how the interview went, he left without dishing his usual 'thank you'.
The friend came out searching for him. Not finding him in sight he dialed his number, but the voice from the other end was somewhat rude, demeaning, but still visibly heavy-ladened.
The friend came to deliver good news: It turned out the officer in charge of this recruitment process was someone who owed him a huge favour, and had agreed to hire the renegade friend in exchange for that debt owed. But then, that wasn't an option anymore - Bad print.

(PS: I know this tale might sound too cliche, but please get the message)

A whole lot of us have lost opportunities, privileges, and even trust, because of momentary weaknesses caused by our failing human nature (most times we are to be blamed), but nonetheless we need to keep trying to leave positive marks to be remembered during our life times and in our wakes, in the hearts, minds, and lips of almost everyone we come across (because the truth is you cannot please everyone).

It is necessary to state here that prints left could be good or bad. It is absolutely necessary that your prints be defined - Do not be lukewarm.

Surround yourself with positivity, good prints will follow in your stead.
